Let's take a look back on what we've been up to the last fortnight (honestly this is the hardest part as we can't even remember what happened two days ago lol).. Ooh, we went to Grazeland! If you don't know what Grazeland is, what are you doing with your life?? Just kidding. It's what they call a playground for foodies that offers a unique outdoor dining experience and some bloody good food and drink options. I know, you're probably screaming at us through the screen like "TELL US MORE!" Here's the sitch - we TRIED (like really hard) to vlog our experience there so that we could share with you our food recommendations, but it was so tragic guys.. It probably did not help that we went basically at peak hour (dinner time) which meant that we were surrounded by many hangry people (including ourselves), it was a bitch trying to find a seat and line up for food, and also the live music (which was divine btw) masked our voices as we talked to the camera. Literally us:
It's okay, we learnt our lesson and are now aware of the technical difficulties that we have to combat for next time. Yes, you bet your bottom dollah that we're going to go back and give it another crack (more so because we want to try more food). If you're a Melbournian foodie, we highly recommend you go and check out Grazeland!
For those who haven't heard, we started a YouTube channel!! Our first video went up not long ago. We chose our 5 top products from our store that are valued under $50 and explained why love them! Click here to check it out. We included a sneaky discount code too for those who are keen to try any of these 5 products.
We're also aiming to push out one YouTube vid a fortnight for now. Let us know if you have any suggestions on what we should film by replying to this email! It would be much appreciated!
our latest obsession
We thought we'd change it up a bit and share with you things that we've been obsessed with OUTSIDE of the beauty realm. Of course, it's always nice to know which lipstick someone is currently using or moisturiser they're loving, but we think you'll thank us for sharing some of these non-beauty gems from time to time.
Today's item is a goodie! She's elegant, pretty, simple, and best of all, she smells sooo freakin' good.
Yep, it's a diffuser! Marseille Memoir by Glasshouse to be exact.
Wow, are we getting old or what..? How can you not love Glasshouse though? They make some of the BEST smelling candles and diffusers. We've probably gone through (I kid you not) more than 15 Glasshouse candles as a collective. That's what happens when you buy your own home I guess! Fun fact - we both bought our homes around the same time (2ish months apart) about 3 years ago and did all our furniture/decor shopping together so you could say that the inside of our homes are almost identical.
Anyway, we bought this diffuser during one of our furniture/decor shopping trips (surprise, surprise). It now lives in our studio/content filming room and makes it smell so nice! We're not really good at describing scents so here's the description of this one pulled straight from Glasshouse's website:
Top Notes: Hyacinth, Neroli, Apple Blossom
Middle Notes: Gardenia, Carnation, Tuberose
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Incense, Clove Bud
We're obsessed with it because it gives you wafts of floral and sweet notes but isn't too girly. It's also the base notes for us - anything with sandalwood is a winner.
You know how you come across a smell that reminds you of a very specific point in time? This fragrance has definitely done it for us. The one memory that we get from this smell is when we first put our studio/content filming room together, which was a mission to say the least (we'll save this story for another blog), but a huge milestone for us. That day marked the beginning of a new chapter!
our splendrous tips of the trade
We LOVE learning - it's honestly the best thing about having our own little biz. The constant learning motivates us to do what we do everyday. This little segment is for us to share with you things that we have learnt previously which we hope you find helpful or useful, whether it be from our professional careers working in the skincare industry, as new business owners, or even just personal advice!
IF YOU DON'T ASK, DO, OR TRY, HOW WILL YOU KNOW?
This may seem like a pretty obvious one to most and even cliched, but it resonates so hard with us, especially when it comes to running a business together. Este was actually REALLY hesitant to ask Libby to start this gig together (also another story for another day). She was planning to not say anything and keep it alllll to herself until her hubby (bless his soul) pushed her to just do it. If she never asked, we really wouldn't be here! There were (and still are) so many things that we don't know the answer to when running this business. So many moments of "what the f*ck is going on", "how do we even fix this" and "what if it doesn't work". But what we've learnt is that the only way to escape this mentality or to get the answers we're searching for, is to just bloody do it because they're not going to be presented to us on a silver platter. Looking back to our first days of splendr, we used to go around in circles trying to seek solutions ourselves and pondering on whether things will work out because we were to scared to try. Nowadays, we're annoying the heck out of our friends who work in marketing roles and asking them to help us with xyz, we're trialling strategies and campaigns because we're hungry to see if the results are profitable and reproducible, we're getting comfortable with the uncomfortable and doing things that make us happy!
So if you find yourself holding onto a thought for so long or wanting to take the leap with something but can't find the courage to do it, JUST. DO. IT. How will you ever know the outcome if you don't?
Thank you thank you thank you if you've made it this far! We appreciate you and hope this made you smile today. We would also appreciate you more if you would be kind enough to share your thoughts on this blog and/or our brand by leaving a comment below. Or if you've tried any of the products from our store, we'd love if you could share your experience by leaving a review on our website! Until next time,
